Sport LP released 14 October 2016 via XL Recordings, ‘Jonny [feat. Jonny]’ is also released on 12” vinyl along with previous single Frankie (feat. Frankie).
‘Jonny [feat. Jonny]’ is one of Powell’s favourite tracks from Sport. It contains the added luxury of vocals from Jonnine Standish of the lauded minimal electronic duo HTRK.
The video for ‘Jonny [feat. Jonny]’ was inspired by Powell’s long-running NTS radio show Melon Magic.
It contains footage sent by fans to his powell@xlrecordings.com email address [which was pasted on billboards in both London and New York], as well as footage from Powell’s own recent North American tour with Russell Haswell and Not Waving, a tour that celebrated 5 years since the inception of his own label Diagonal Records.
