In September, Romy released her debut solo single, ‘Lifetime’. Combining Romy’s love of yearning, emotional club music and timeless songwriting (having written songs for the likes of Dua Lipa, Mark Ronson, Jehnny Beth and Benny Blanco in addition to co-writing The xx’s three acclaimed albums), ‘Lifetime’ is an exhilarating piece of warm, club-influenced pop about “being totally lost in the moment and celebrating it”; a timely moment of escapism that hints towards Romy’s love of club classics, Ibiza house and trance.
Praise for ‘Lifetime‘ has been universal, with i-D Magazine describing it as “a stunning return to music” and The Sunday Times as “a celebration of life, love and friendship, this heady, pulsating debut single from the xx singer plugs you straight into the emotional mains”. Today sees the release of Bolton-born, Berlin-based artist Planningtorock’s remix of ‘Lifetime’. Taking things even further into the club, it’s a stunning reinterpretation of the track from one of Romy’s favourite artists.

It was so much fun re pitching Romy’s gorgeous husky vocals to make this new melody and transform the song into a queer dance floor stomper. Also really love Romy’s message on this track and wanted to take that already uplifting feeling and lift it higher. It has been amazing getting to know Jam as a friend over the past few years and connecting over a shared love of pop dance and club music from the 90s/early 2000s, I feel like this remix combines so many of the elements that we spoke about both loving, I can’t wait to hear it in a club!”
