New Album sketchy. Out This Friday
Pre-Order: tuneyards.ffm.to/sketchy
Ahead of this Friday’s release of their fifth studio album, sketchy., Tune-Yards has released a third single ‘hypnotized’ today. A soulful plea to stay awake and present in this time of pandemic and oligarchy, its companion video, directed by Tee Ken Ng posits the viewer on a never-ending looping train track.
WATCH: ‘hypnotized’
Last week, Tune-Yards’ Merrill Garbus channelled her puppeteering past for a unique rendition of ‘hypnotized’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Watch the performance here.
sketchy., which includes the singles ‘hold yourself.’, ‘nowhere, man’ and ‘hypnotized’ will be released on 26 March 2021. Unlike the lyrical introspection of previous outing I can feel you creep into my private life, on sketchy. Merrill balances self-inspection and reflection with bombastic rallying cries, reminiscent of the furious tones of early days Tune-Yards. The result is a colourful and joyous record with lyrics that cut to the bone. “I started remembering that people come to us to be entertained, to move, to feel joy. And together, I think, we can wake up.”
sketchy. will be available digitally, and on CD, on yellow opaque, translucent blue and standard black vinyl on 26 March. For pre-order information head to tuneyards.ffm.to/sketchy
