UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA
APRA SILVER SCROLL NOMINEE

UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA has been announced as one of the top five finalists for the 2018 APRA Silver Scroll Awards, recognising excellence in songwriting.

Third time finalists and former winners Unknown Mortal Orchestra are back in the shortlist for 2018 with album favourite ‘Hunnybee’.

From the day their new album Sex & Food was released, it was clear ‘Hunnybee’ was hitting a chord with fans in a special way.  A live show favourite, the song draws lyrical inspiration from Unknown Mortal Orchestra mastermind Ruban Nielson’s daughter, whose middle name gave the song its title. A beautifully understated song, it still moves with propulsion that gives fans reason to dance.

HUNNYBEE… THE BEER

Garage Project and Unknown Mortal Orchestra proudly present ‘Hunnybee’, brewed to celebrate their NZ tour this September. A lavender honey & hopped saison available in beautiful 440ml cans.

Limited stock available.

We asked Garage Project a few questions about the collaboration…

How did the collaboration came together with Unknown Mortal Orchestra?

Music is a big inspiration behind many of our beers, so we’re constantly on the look out for creative collaborations with like minded artists. We got to know Ruban through working on events with part of his promotional team and they put two and two together, and helped master mind this sweet collaboration.

What are the flavours?

We have created a Hoppy, Lavender Honey Saison. It is a modern interpretation on a rustic, farmhouse ale. The lavender honey comes through with beautiful floral notes, and the saison base lends spice and funk. Very fitting for the beer inspired by UMO’s Hunnybee track.

The artwork is amazing! Who is Hey Pogo?

Hey Pogo is an insanely talented artist that has been a creative collaborator of UMO and Ruban. We love having the artwork on our beers and it was a natural step to work with an artist already in tune with the look and feel of UMO.

How limited edition is the Hunnybee beer and where can you get it from?

We have only produced one run so it is very exclusive. The beer will be available at Garage Project venues, select gig venues on the upcoming tour and in select premium bottle shops throughout NZ. We are already fielding a lot of requests from overseas for it, so who knows, maybe we’ll see a return to accompany UMO on the rest of their tour…

Are you happy with the process and the final outcome?

It was a great collaboration and we’re thrilled with the end result. Ruban really knows his beers and brought a lot of ideas to the project. Music and beer are great collaborative partners!
