Whitney – the Chicago-based band led by vocalist/drummer Julien Ehrlich and guitarist Max Kakacek – shares a new single/video, ‘Used To Be Lonely,’ from their forthcoming album, Forever Turned Around, out August 30th via Secretly Canadian/Rhythmethod.

It follows the previously released singles, ‘Valleys (My Love)’ and ‘Giving Up’

“Even without knowing what [“Valleys (My Love)”] is about, you’ll hear the melancholy in every lilting horn or plucked string. It’s the kind of track that you can play for anyone, anywhere, but it’ll still make everyone stop what they’re doing and get reflective.” – Vulture

“‘Valleys (My Love)’…pairs Ehrlich’s sweet falsetto with some truly pristine soft-rock orchestration. I’m talking ’70s sitcom opening theme song quality. I’m smitten.” – Stereogum

“[‘Valleys (My Love)’] might be Whitney’s most panoramic yet…”  Paste

‘Used To Be Lonely’ tackles the blissful confusion that comes from seeing the way things unexpectedly change over time. The accompanying video, directed by Austin Vesely, is Chicago-centric, featuring notable places throughout the city like the Music Box Theatre and Lake Michigan shoreline.

Forever Turned Around is an album about partnership — romantic, familial and communal, but most importantly a love in friendship: the bonds between two best friends and creative partners and the joy and stress that comes with it. The album was co-produced by Brad Cook (Bon IverHand Habits) and Jonathan Rado (Weyes Blood, Father John Misty), who produced their much-beloved debut, 2016’s Light Upon The Lake, and features Chicago musicians Lia Kohl and OHMME’s Macie Stewart.
