FLIP THEIR EP OPENER “PARADISO” INTO AN ETHEREAL MASTERPIECE
“an intoxicating journey that doesn’t conform to any rules” – Crack Magazine
“The vibe is dark and introspective.” – Bandcamp
“A dark twist on Tahiti’s ori deck dance music.” – Resident Advisor
“ceremonial take on dance music” – CLASH
“bridges Polynesian music past and present.” – NPR
5-piece outfit 15 15 (FKA QuinzeQuinze) make music like no one else, conjuring up epic soundscapes coated in Moombahton and club-ready jaunts of the underground that’s been lauded by Crack, Dazed, Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, NPR, and received a personal invitation by Benji B to his prestigious Maida Vale ‘End Of Year Special’, alongside George Riley, Liv.e and Ojerime.
Today, they share their new shapeshifting 7-track EP ATAHEVA. “The overall theme of the EP is centred around the concept of death,” says Parisian outfit QuinzeQuinze of their latest release, ATAHEVA. “But not presented as a sad or dark subject – more as an invitation to contemplate the nature of life.” EP highlights include the mesmerising “Perfect Heaven”, expansive r&b and alté juggernaut “That Boom” and the serenading alternative version of EP opener “Paradiso”.
Their EP ATAHEVA steps into newer, bolder, terrain – both musically and thematically. “ATAHEVA means the cloud of mourning in Tahitian (two members are both natives of Tahiti) ,” they say. ATAHEVA is also an imaginary ritual from the band’s own mythology. “It recalls the Polynesian funeral rite known as Heva Tupapa’u (weeping for the corpse)”.
15 15 have paved their own lane of experimental r&b, disconcerting club sounds and electronica. This year, 15 15 have performed at We Out Here festival alongside Ezra Collective, Liv.e and Salami Rose Joe Louis and the inaugural rapture day festival at the legendary EartH Theater with Okay Kaya, Lauren Auder, yune pinku and Baba Stiltz.
