Danny L Harle shares a remix of ‘Starlight’ featuring PinkPantheress by Skrillex and Ring Noord, who reimagine one of the standout tracks from Harle’s acclaimed debut album Cerulean.
Starlight (Skrillex & ring noord Remix)
If the original embodied Cerulean’s celestial blend of euphoric trance melodies and bittersweet emotion, this remix by Skrillex and Ring Noord (the collaborative project of Noisia’s Nik Roos and Jasper Scholma, known as Former) pushes the track into new territory. A highlight in all three artists’ recent sets, it transforms the original’s widescreen romanticism into a club anthem while preserving the emotional pull at its core. It follows recent remixes from legendary DJ and producer Sasha, who applied his Midas touch to Cerulean’s ‘Raft In The Sea.’
The ‘Starlight’ remix brings together three of electronic music’s most forward-thinking producers and marks the latest chapter in the longstanding creative relationship between Danny L Harle and Skrillex, whose paths have been intertwined for over a decade through collaborations, mutual influence, and a shared commitment to expanding the possibilities of pop and electronic music. Harle has contributed production and songwriting across projects connected to Skrillex’s wider creative orbit, while both artists have helped shape the sound of contemporary electronic pop through their work with artists including Charli xcx, Caroline Polachek, Justin Bieber, Bladee, and PinkPantheress.
These recent remixes compliment Harle’s ongoing, separate Cerulean Divergence series: an open-ended remix project in which Harle hands the complete stems of a single Cerulean track to a fellow artist, inviting them to create anything from a traditional remix to an entirely new body of work. The resulting releases have transformed Harle’s source material in wildly different ways, with artists expanding a single song into full-length explorations of their own sonic worlds. Previous releases in the series include Starlight Divergence, Azimuth Divergence, and Crystalise Divergence, created by Torus, Rachika Nayar, DOSS. The project’s unique approach even caught the attention of Ninajirachi, who spoke with Derrick Gee about the series in an interview earlier this year, available here.
Released in February, Cerulean marked Harle’s first full-length release on XL Recordings and his most definitive artistic statement to date. A journey through vast, otherworldly sonic landscapes, the album fused speaker-rattling bass and euphoric synth work with classical harmonies, intricate sound design, and field recordings captured along the British coastline. Seeking “the best melodies sung by the best voices,” Harle assembled a cast of collaborators including Dua Lipa, Caroline Polachek, Clairo, PinkPantheress, Oklou, MNEK, Julia Michaels, and kacha, resulting in an ambitious work that further cemented his status as one of pop and electronic music’s most singular visionaries.
