Today Ha the Unclear announce the release of their long-awaited second album Invisible Lines, which will be released on Friday 20th July. The frenetic kiwi quartet also share a striking music video for their new single ‘Wallace Line,’ starring both Cathro brothers, Michael and Paul with New Zealand filmmaker and actress, Kelly Gilbride, who directed and produced the video.
The track, produced and engineered by Tom Healy at Paquin Studios (Tiny Ruins, Popstrangers) and mastered by Jared Hirshland (Anderson .Paak, Tokyo Police Club), unravels the story of a disintegrating long-distance relationship over a percussive musical backdrop and Cathro’s endearing storytelling, which has become a much-loved centrepiece of Ha The Unclear’s music over the years. Watch the official video below.
Last month, the band completed a sweeping national tour celebrating the release of Wallace Line, packing out venues across the country with their energetic live show.
Made up of Dunedin musicians Michael Cathro (vocals/guitar), Ben Sargeant (drums), Paul Cathro (bass) and Aucklander Theo Francis (guitar), Ha the Unclear have been charming the indie world with their off-kilter, guitar-driven pop songs that have seen them tour with Courtney Barnett, support The Shins, The Dandy Warhols and Jeffrey Lewis.
Their iconic Simon Oliver-directed music video for Secret Lives of Furniture took home a Tui nomination for Best Music Video at the 2016 VNZMAs.
This New Zealand Music Month, Ha the Unclear are teaming up with Being. and Soaked Oats to release a special edition split single ‘Corduroy Cape: A Persnickity Mixtape’ featuring 3 singles from each group to be released over May. The full mixtape will be released digitally and on cassette tape on May 15th.
Supporting the release, all three bands will play 4 dates in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
