Jamie McDell shares a new video for ‘Running Now‘ a track from her independently released record Extraordinary Girl. Watch below.
Following the release of Extraordinary Girl, Jamie went on a nationwide New Zealand tour in May. Today, Jamie announces two new show dates in the South Island. She will be playing in Queenstown and Dunedin mid-August. More info below.
Jamie explains the concept behind the video, “This track came out of me like a break up song (but I’ve been with my partner for a successful four years) for me personally it was derived from some of the experiences I’d had leading up to separating with my label and the liberation of diving into the independent world. It made sense to me to mirror some form of breaking free in the video, also it turns out I have a new hobby; line dancing. I saw a bit of it when I was in Nashville so decided to take a few classes when I came home. I suppose it’s not a very ‘modern’ style of dance amongst my generation but I like that it’s about focus and coming full circle. I use solitude, an 80s Alfa Romeo and nature to find contentment in this video.”
On May 4, 2018, Jamie McDell independently-released

In March, Jamie McDell revealed a picturesque visual for her charming track ‘Tori’, a standout from her latest record. Directed by longtime McDell collaborator Garth Badger of Thievery Studio, we float around the historic Whatipu Lodge in Auckland’s southwestern bush. The slow-moving video breathes a feeling of nostalgia around triggered memories of a past relationship.
