NEWS: BELLE & SEBASTIAN ‘WRITE ABOUT LOVE’ OUT MONDAY 18TH

Four and a half years after the release of The Life Pursuit – a UK top ten album which sold over a quarter of a million copies globally – Glasgow’s beloved Belle and Sebastian release their eighth album, Belle and Sebastian Write About Love via Rough Trade / Rhythmethod.

Unlike its predecessors, Belle and Sebastian Write About Love is an album which came together in a relatively short period of time. After the band reconvened in February 2010, a period of writing and pre-production in Glasgow was followed by a trip to Los Angeles to record the album with full orchestration by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air, Phoenix) at The Sound Factory.

Marrying the intimacy of early works like Sinister and Tigermilk with the production values of their more recent releases, Belle and Sebastian Write About Love is a varied, captivating and occasionally disturbing trawl through the minds of Stuart Murdoch and his colleagues.

Stuart Murdoch wrote the majority of the songs on the album, and Sarah Martin sings lead vocals on her two contributions  I Didn’t See It Coming and  I Can See Your Future. In addition, Norah Jones contributes lead vocals to Little Lou, Ugly Jack, Prophet John, and actress Carey Mulligan sings on title track and current single Write About Love. The band also collaborated with Los Angeles string group The Section Quartet on Belle and Sebastian Write About Love.
